AI Connector

As an AI Connector at the Academy for Learning and Teaching (ALT) at Eindhoven University of Technology, I aim to bridge the gap between developments in artificial intelligence and their practical application in higher education.

My involvement with generative AI started in late 2022, when I discovered that ChatGPT could solve programming assignments I was designing for my students. This led to an experimental study in early 2023, which revealed both the opportunities and challenges of using AI in education. While students used AI effectively for coding, debugging and learning support, we also observed reduced collaboration and lower-quality outcomes.

Since then, I have been actively involved in research, developing guidelines and exploring how AI can support teaching, learning and assessment. In my role as AI Connector, I want to build on these experiences by connecting educators, sharing practical insights and encouraging experimentation with AI across the university.

My main objective is to help colleagues integrate AI into their education in a responsible and meaningful way, while keeping the development of students’ knowledge, skills and critical thinking at the centre.
